Revelations only unfold in faith.

It’s been weeks since this sunrise and yet I still think about it every day. The wind was whipping me about but it was hot and humid. The storm clouds and sheets of rain in the distance were dramatic and the birds made it all the more alive.

I had a revelation standing there. And I still don’t quite know what to do with it.

It was the realization that I will never be able to paint what I see. A painting will never really compare to a photograph. Paint cannot duplicate light shining thru particles of air. And a photograph will never compare to the real thing. It wasn’t a feeling of “why bother, I should just quit”. It was more permission to experiment more. There are seen moments and felt moments. And I want my work to show both. I always have. And yet I still don’t know how. But this dose of clarity has helped me to trust that the unfolding will only happen in faith.
